Ajarn Chai Sirisute, considered by many to be the Father of Muay Thai in America, headed the annual Muay Thai Camp at OC Kickboxing & MMA last weekend. Ajarn Chai is the Founder and Head instructor of the Thai Boxing Association USA, the first Muay Thai Association in the USA and the biggest in the World.

It was a huge success with about 100 people turning out to watch or be a part of the action. Ajarn Chai taught the fundamental and advanced techniques of Muay Thai and boxing to a receptive group of Muay Thai enthusiasts on both Saturday and Sunday.

 

Also in attendance were Ajarn Rex and Kru Bryan Dobler of Dobler’s Muay Thai Kickboxing. It is a pleasure to be one of the only gyms to have the honor of continuing to host Muay Thai workshops with Ajarn Chai, a true Master in the art of Muay Thai.

In this Muay Thai sequence, Ajarn Chai first counters a right cross with a Thai style jab coming over the punch. Ajarn Chai then counters a left hook with a cover, follows with a left elbow and reaches for the plum (clinch). He finishes with a right then a left knee from the clinch.

OC Kickboxing & MMA fighter Taryn Roberts won all three rounds in a convincing way against Maria Witt. Maria failed to make weight by 9 Lbs. coming in at 134 instead of the agreed 125. This did not bother Taryn at all as she dominated three rounds of Muay Thai action on the 4th of July at Master Toddy’s in Las Vegas.

Taryn pounded Maria with punches, kicks, knees and a stiff jab for all three rounds. Her punches cocked back Marias head several times in every round. To her credit, Maria fought back the whole time and displayed an excellent ability to take a punch.

OC Kickboxing & MMA instructor Bobby Tachine of Irvine, CA beat his opponent by TKO in the first round of his bout at the Boxing Club in Carlsbad, CA on Saturday night.

It was a great fight with a lot of action packed into that first round. The fighters traded a lot of shots until Bobby landed a straight right punch, dropping his opponent to his knees. The guy got a standing 8 count and then the fight was allowed to proceed. Bobby then landed a big knee strike and a solid right uppercut which buckled the guy forcing referee stoppage.
