21st Annual Pacific Northwest Muay Thai Camp
July 26th-31st, 2011
The 21st Annual Pacific Northwest Muay Thai Camp was an amazing experience.
With over 150 people there to train in Muay Thai, the invitation-only 4 day event was quite a spectacle. In attendance were Ajarn Chai Sirisute, Ajarn Dan Inosanto, Ajarn Rex, Ajarn Kim, Ajarn Greg Nelson, Ajarn Bryan Dobler, Ajarn Bryan Popejoy and former Lumpini and Rajadamnern Champion, Ajarn Sangtiennoi.
The training was intense with morning training starting at 6:30 AM and finishing at about 8:30 PM with a break for breakfast and lunch. The participants were often broken up into groups of 24 rotating between stations comprised of a heavy bag station, two Thai pad stations, a shadow boxing station, a sparring station and a clinch station. We would do 8 rounds at each station, then rotate.
Then the whole field would be grouped together for sparring. The site of 150 people all sparring in an open field at one time was amazing! Although it’s a grueling 4 day workout, the Pacific Northwest Muay Thai Camp is one of the most incredible Muay Thai experiences in the world!
